Installing IBO Player, device by device

StreamWay plays exclusively through IBO Player. Whatever screen you own, the whole job takes about ten minutes the first time and roughly two minutes on every device after that.

The shape of it

Four steps, whatever you are installing on

Every device follows the same arc. Only the download method changes.

Install the app

From your device’s store where one exists, or by sideloading the installer where it does not.

Note two codes

IBO Player shows a MAC address and a device key on first launch. Copy both down carefully.

Register the playlist

On the IBO portal in any browser, pair those codes with the playlist URL from your activation email.

Restart and watch

Close the app, reopen it, and the full grid plus library loads on its own.

Before you start

You will need three things: an active StreamWay subscription, the activation email we sent when your order cleared, and an internet connection of roughly 15 Mbps for HD or 25 Mbps for the 4K tier. If your credentials have not arrived yet, check the spam folder before writing to us — that accounts for most of the “nothing came through” tickets we receive.

Why IBO Player and nothing else. IBO Player installs on virtually every platform, including the closed-source smart televisions from Samsung and LG that most IPTV applications never reach. Standardising on one application means our support desk knows precisely which screen you are describing when you call. The application carries a small one-off licence fee paid to its developers, separate from your StreamWay subscription.

A note on how IBO Player activates

Unlike players where you type a server address into the app itself, IBO Player uses remote playlist activation. You register the device on the IBO web portal and their system pushes your playlist down to the installed app. It feels roundabout the first time, but it means you never key a long URL in with a television remote — which anyone who has tried it will recognise as a mercy.

Android phones, tablets, boxes and televisions

  1. Open the Google Play Store on the device and search for IBO Player. On Android boxes without Play access, download the installer from the developer’s official site instead.
  2. If you are sideloading, Android will warn you the file came from outside the store. Allow the install from that source, then confirm.
  3. Open the application. An introductory screen appears carrying your MAC address and device key. Note both down.
  4. Leave the device on that screen and move to a phone or computer browser for the registration step below.

Amazon Fire TV Stick and Fire TV

  1. From the Fire TV home screen, open Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options and switch on installation from unknown sources.
  2. Search the Amazon Appstore for a downloader utility and install it. Launch it and allow the permission prompt.
  3. Enter the IBO Player download address supplied in your activation email, then let the file download and choose Install.
  4. Open IBO Player. Record the MAC address and device key from the welcome screen, then continue to registration.

Windows 10 and newer

  1. Download the Windows installer from the IBO developer site. The build is 64-bit and requires Windows 10 or later.
  2. Windows will flag the file because it came from outside the Microsoft Store. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Work through the installer, ticking the desktop shortcut box if you want one, and finish.
  4. Launch the player and note the MAC address and device key shown on the opening screen.

macOS

  1. Download the macOS build from the developer site and open the disk image.
  2. Drag IBO Player into your Applications folder.
  3. On first launch, macOS may block an app from an unidentified developer. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway.
  4. Record the MAC address and device key from the welcome screen.

Samsung and LG smart televisions

  1. Open the television’s own app store — Samsung Apps on Tizen, or the LG Content Store on webOS.
  2. Search for IBO Player and install it. No sideloading is required on either platform.
  3. Launch the app. The MAC address and device key appear on the introductory screen.
  4. These panels are precisely why we chose this player; most IPTV applications never reach them at all.

Registering your playlist on the IBO portal

This step is identical on every device, and it is the one that actually switches your television on.

  1. On a phone or computer, open the playlist management page on the IBO Player website.
  2. Enter the MAC address and device key you noted from the app.
  3. Choose the playlist type. StreamWay issues credentials in both formats — an M3U streaming line and an XC playlist (server address, username, password). Either works; the XC format tends to produce a tidier category structure.
  4. Paste in the URL or the three XC fields exactly as they appear in your activation email, give the playlist a name, and save.
  5. Go back to the device, close IBO Player completely, and reopen it. The grid loads.

If nothing appears after the restart, the cause is almost always a transcription slip in the MAC address or device key — a zero read as the letter O, or a missing character at the end. Re-check both against the app screen before contacting us. If they match and it is still blank, send the desk a message with your account email and we will look at the line from our side.

Finding your way around the app

Live TV

The live section opens on a category list with the programme guide alongside. Fourteen days of EPG data populate within a minute or two of first load. If the category list looks unwieldy, open Manage Categories in settings and hide the groups you will never watch — most subscribers cut the visible list by more than half and never look back.

Favourites and search

Hold the select button on any channel to add it to favourites, which pins it to a group at the top of the list. The search function works across live channels and the on-demand library at once, so a title search will surface both the box set and the channel currently airing it.

Films and series

The on-demand sections carry all 118,000 titles described on our channel and library page, sorted by genre with poster artwork and synopses. Series are grouped by season rather than dumped in one long list.

Settings worth changing on day one

  • Parental control — set a PIN and lock the adult categories before the children get hold of the remote.
  • Live TV player — if a channel stutters, switching the decoder between hardware and software here resolves it more often than anything else.
  • Auto boot on start — useful on a dedicated box so the television comes up straight into the grid.
  • Clear cache — the first thing to try whenever artwork stops loading or the guide looks stale.
  • Language — set the interface and preferred audio track, which matters on the bilingual Canadian feeds.

Frequently asked, specifically about the app

Which devices does IBO Player run on?

Android phones, tablets, boxes and televisions; Amazon Fire TV and Fire sticks; Windows 10 and newer; macOS; Samsung Tizen and LG webOS panels; iPhone and iPad; and MAG set-top units.

Can I record programmes?

No. IBO Player has no recording function. If recording matters to you, say so before ordering — it is a genuine limitation and we would rather flag it than have you find out afterwards.

Can I watch two channels side by side?

No, there is no multi-screen mode. In any case each StreamWay subscription activates a single device, so a second simultaneous stream needs a second line.

Is the app itself free?

The application carries a small one-time licence fee payable to its developers after a short evaluation period. That charge is theirs, not ours, and is entirely separate from your StreamWay subscription.

Can I move it to a new television?

Yes. Install the app on the new device, note its new MAC and device key, and update the registration on the IBO portal. Your StreamWay line follows you — just remember the old device stops working, since a subscription activates one screen at a time. If your term is close to expiring, handle it alongside your renewal.

No subscription yet?

The guide above is worth nothing without credentials to put in it. Start on the intro month and you will be watching within the hour.
